Erik ten Haag “begs for forgiveness” after bizarre theory about Cristiano Ronaldo becoming Manchester United boss Piers Morgan has warned Erik ten Haag that he should beg for forgiveness if Arsenal win the Premier League this season.
Despite the fact the Dutchman has seen a remarkable turnaround in fortunes since his shaky start at Old Trafford, Morgan feels Ten Haag may still have a lot to answer for. United’s inspired form came to the fore as soon as Cristiano Ronaldo left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent in November.
Ronaldo’s ouster followed his explosive interview with Morgan, during which he took aim at everyone from Ten Haag to the Glazers. It became clear the 37-year-old could not stay at the club following his comments and his departure was confirmed on the eve of Portugal’s World Cup campaign.
Morgan has admitted he is keeping an eye on how United are progressing without their former talisman and although they appear to be improving without Ronaldo, the outspoken journalist remains unconvinced. He told talkSPORT he expected United’s next rivals Arsenal to put the Red Devils aside at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Pressed for comment on whether United are in a better position without Ronaldo, Morgan replied: Why don’t you come back and ask me on Sunday at 6.30pm and see how cocky they all feel at United. They’ve beaten a few teams and they’ve had a good result against City.
Let’s not rule out Bunting just yet, I think we’re going to demolish him completely on Sunday and then, at that point, I’ll remind him that he managed to take advantage of the greatest footballer in history because he thought Was that it was a good idea.
Should United surprise and drop Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday, it would leave just six points between the two teams and blow the title race wide open.
